This week, we are focus on risk management and the response to the risks. According to the project plan I currently involved, there are variety risks in the project, such as the allocation fund for the project. In terms of ICT risk, if we can not define the metadata correctly, it will lead to project fail from the beginning. I think the fundamental parts for a Business Intelligence system are the metadata and how to capture the business metadata or the business requirement before we actually implement the system. In current stage, risks also be introduce instantly, for instance, in the definition of metadata phase, we have to ensure that we capture the business requirement and develop the correct metadata entity in the metadata dictionary. This is the only way that adds business value to the company. To minimize the risks, we have to develop a risk strategy to avoid this change or reduce the risk impact ot

data dictionary

I also see quite a dichotomy between starting a data dictionary as an aid to building a (greenfields) data source, and documenting an already-existing system A data dictionary is, at its most simple, a mapping of data elements your organization stores, where it stores them, and what each element means. While it’s simple to describe, it’s a bit more complicated and time-consuming to implement. Another reason for a data dictionary is that you need to determine authoritative sources for your data elements when you need systems to interact. Defining Data Elements for the Data Dictionary

This week my tasks are to create several report on Monash college's admission. Monash College has several business units: Monash college diploma course, Monash college foundation year, professional year and Monash college language learning center. I felt my task was extremely difficult for me since I am not familiar with the business process and I did not know where the data came from. As a business analyst, the most important is to understanding business and how to utilize the ICT to boost the efficiency of the business and reduce the cost. In my internship, my job is designed to generate the report, which business require. Understanding the business requirement is as important as using the ICT tools. In my case, it is the Qlikview that develop the reports. Also, maintaining our professionalism is a critical part in my role. I submitted my job of a report to my manager. To my surprised, he checked every field in my report. In addition, he compared my work with his previous work, as some records in the report is similar. In particular, he compared one field that was different in the report and investigated the result that leaded to this difference. This action very inspired me on how to work as a professional to ensure the report correct.

In my internship, my duty is to develop the reports that required by other departments. Because it was my first week of my internship, I was not familiar with the database structure and the business process, which made me very difficult to develop the report. In addition, my manager was busy with his tasks. he did not have enough time to explain the report field and the business logic for me. This very challenged me partly because that I was used to be assigned tasks by the manager. So, I looked into the fields in the database table and analysis the information based on my limited knowledge about the business and the report. I finished the reports and submitted my job to my manager. To my surprised, my manager analysis every field in my report and checked it with his own knowledge. Suddenly, he found some mistakes in my report and asked me the reason. I explained to his about my situation and the difficulties I had encountered. He introduced me in a great detail about the business process; he said that as an ICT professional in our organization, we had to provide a correct report for the business to add the business value to the organization. Indeed, if I can not provide the correct report, how can the business make a decision base on the faulty report? Even when I had a large amount of difficulties, I should try to deal with it in my great effort.

ACS week3

ACS week 3 帐户 施乐园 This week is the first week of my internship. In terms of working experience, I used to work in China for two years as a Helpdesk analyst, but I have not had any Australian ICT industry so far. So I felt a little nervous and excited about this opportunity that professional year offered me. First day was all about the Administration tasks. In the second days of the week, I discussed my tasks and my internship expectation. Fortunately, I had a school assignment which is similar to this job using SAP. But the system structure and the data information are different from my internship. This is partly because that data is more complex in the real business environment and the business requirement is always fuzzy. In addition, the business intelligence tool is different, which also challenge me since I have to learn to utilize new software in a short time. Compared with the assignment I used to complete in university, the structure is similar, so it gives me a basic understand about this job. The real different in this job I think is to understand the business process and how to gather information from the database, most importantly; extracting data from database is a critical part in this job. Overall, I will focus on the business intelligence interface first. Question 3 You are faced with a situation you feel may be unethical. How would you set about analysing the situation? Think about the ethical analysis process, not the potential ethical dilemma. What questions do you need to ask? What facts do you need to consider? What, or who – might help you in your analysis? Use the Ethical Framework provided by the 3-step method of the Center for Ethics and Business Write 150-250 words, to answer this question. If you wish, choose a specific example of an unethical situation; either fictional, or that you have actually experienced. Discuss with your classmates the different approaches you each have taken and try to explain why there are differences. I would like to illustrate this example by using a specific situation that I encounter before. A friend of my is a IT enthusiast, whose interest is in internet working, he was introduced to use a hacker software. He was on a business trip in Melbourne, his broadband was near the limit. So maybe he just wanted to take some advantage or show off his technique or skills. He hacked in the network that nearby, so he can use the network for free. I think I would still use some ethic analysis process adapting from the framework. For instance, I need to think about who will be affected in this situation. Obviously, it was the internet owner who might be slow down. I also have to think about the value in this situation, as a IT professional, it looks like we steal some valuable thing. so it is un ethical. Also it is against the law. . Question 4 Where you are working in your internship, locate your company's values statement or code of ethics and ask your supervisor if you can either link to it from the company website in the discussion forum or reproduce it in the forum. If your supervisor refuses permission, or there is no values statement or code of ethics, prepare one for their use based on the reading you have done. You might model it on one you have come across. If you need, look at the Western Australia Public Sector Code of Ethics as a guide. Write 100-200 words to evaluate the code of ethics or values statement, whichever you are working with, against this week’s readings. Discuss what is good about it, what might be missing and how it could be improved. The Monash College 's value states that Discussion Guidelines (Week 3) 1. Minimum number of posts required this week is 7 (marks will be deducted if you post fewer). 2. To keep the signal to noise ratio down, all posts must add to the meaning of the discussion and not just be a conversation. 3. Answers must be written concisely; marks will be deducted if you “write a lot, but say nothing”. 4. A quiz does not count as a post. Remember marks are awarded on your work as follows: 0 marks if there has been no reading of seminar and module overview as applicable in the week. 1 mark if reading of the seminar/module overview as applicable, has happened 2 marks if seminar/module reading has occurred and there is some quality work but it is not of sufficient quantity and/or timeliness 3 marks if above conditions are met and it has appropriate references to support the argument and discussion. 4 marks if all the requirements in 1, 2 & 3 above are present and the work demonstrates a high quality of engagement and thought.
